The Office of Student Research at Truman State University will provide funding for travel, lodging, food, and registration for up to 25 undergraduate students to present their research, scholarship, and creative activities at the 26th National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Weber State University in Ogden, UT. The conference dates are from March 29-31, 2012.  Detailed information about the conference can be found at http://www.ncur.org.

OSR-Funded Travel Application

  1. an application (fill out with Adobe Acrobat)
  2. an abstract

Successful applicants will be notified no later than Friday, November 4, 2011.

Once a student has secured funding, the student must submit their abstract to NCUR for consideration by the November 15, 2011 deadline.

Funds will be awarded pending acceptance of the abstract by NCUR. Instructions regarding the conference registration procedure will be communicated to students in January, 2012.

Abstract Submission to NCUR

Students may submit their abstracts to NCUR at anytime before the NCUR deadline (November 15, 2011) regardless of OSR travel funding status. Notification of OSR funding status will be emailed by November 4, 2011.

  • Create an account with NCUR 2012. Please follow the guidelines below so that the OSR register you for the conference. The OSR will contact your funding source for reimbursement.
    • Username: your_truman_email_address (xxx1234@truman.edu)
    • Password: Email Marsha Redmon (mredmon@truman.edu) or the Office of Student Research (osr@truman.edu) to receive the password.
  • Submit your abstract to NCUR 2012.

Eligibility

All currently enrolled Truman undergraduate students are eligible to apply for funding to attend NCUR 2012.  Students must have worked with a Truman faculty or staff member who served as a mentor to the project.  Only one application and abstract may be submitted by each student.  If multiple students are listed as co-authors on an abstract, only one representative from the team will be funded to attend the conference.

Travel Coordination

Unsuccessful applicants for support from the Office of Student Research are encouraged to seek funds from other sources, such as their Department or School, an honors organization. Alternatively, some students may have already secured funding from externally funded programs.

The Office of Student Research will coordinate travel, including registration, airline ticket purchase and hotel accomodations, for all Truman students regardless of funding. Even if students travel with other funding sources they are part of the Truman delegation and responsible for following the Office of Student Research policies.

If you would like to present at NCUR but travel on non-OSR funds, please follow these directions.
